Welcome to my Portfolio!
Hello everyone and welcome to my portfolio website! My name is Claire Henneman, I am a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Journalism.
When I was accepted to UW-Madison’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication I was so happy and excited, all of my hard work had paid off!
After my acceptance I signed up for Journalism 202, the required introductory class for all new Journalism students. I knew it would be challenging but I was determined to get through the class making the most of it.
During the first week of J202, the individual story assignment was introduced. I immediately felt overwhelmed and anxious about it.
Once I completed my first interview for the assignment, I could see the light at the end of tunnel. My interview went better than I ever could have imagined. My source made me think of new angles of how to approach my topic, transfer students at UW-Madison.
Now that the individual story is complete, I have never felt more accomplished or proud of myself. I met all of the deadlines and put the most into each assignment.
J202 has taught me many things. How to write as a journalist, a persuasive communicator, to work efficiently as a team and how to plan so a large project feels manageable.
The most important thing J202 has made me realize is that I chose the right major to study in college. Working in strategic communications for a career is something I know I will enjoy and work hard at.
J202 has taught me valuable lessons I am sure I will use for the rest of my life. I cannot be more thankful for that.
